Second and third place went to China and Singapore teams respectively; tournament held at Gamescom 2011.

With Gamescom 2011 done and dusted, so too must the recent Defense Of The Ancients 2 (or DOTA 2 as it’s commonly more known as) international championships tournament end. With 16 teams consisting of five players all across the world from Europe to South-East Asia, only one could be crowned as the champion.

Ukrainian team Na’Vi brought home the gold and placed first in the five day tournament that spanned from August 17 to August 21. The team won the grand prize of $1 million split between the team members. Chinese team EHOME came in second place, winning $250,000. Both teams had to fight in a best of five elimination series. Singaporean team Scythe.SG came in third place and took home $150,000.

DOTA 2 will be out in full early next year for the PC via Steam. Players who wish to participate in the upcoming beta, which will be launched before the end of the year, will need to be registered as Steam users so that they can be picked in a closed beta-test pool. The open beta-test will be launched thereafter.
