Portal has become so culturally ingrained that it can be hard to look past the memes and what made it special. Dare we say that the short film “Outside Aperture” has that magic in spades, taking the original ending of Portal and imagining Chell’s new life outside of Aperture science.
To most, “the cake is a lie” is little more than (an overtired) joke. To Chell, at least the version of her portrayed in this film, it’s deadly serious.
