Some would claim that the cat was out of the bag back when Sony CEA officially registered the trademark almost two years ago, but at a recent reveal event, the publisher finally lifted the veil on Starhawk — a brand new third-person shooter franchise being developed by LightBox Interactive.
If by the game’s title you were expecting Starhawk to be “Warhawk in space” you’d be half right — but you’d also be half wrong. While LightBox is comprised of ex-team members who made the popular PlayStation 3 installment for Warhawk, and there are plenty of borrowed ideas from that franchise, the developers are introducing wholly new elements as well. The first is a single player campaign set in a Western-like space frontier; and while not implied, at least conceptually it resembles the kind of universe visualized in Joss Whedon’s television series Firefly.
