Capcom’s surprise new property — Dragon’s Dogma, an open-world fantasy adventure — doesn’t look much like the intense, sometimes over-the-top action games the publisher has released in recent years. But during an interview at last week’s Captivate press event, producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi told 1UP that Capcom fans unsure of this unique offering from the publisher needn’t worry about the quality of the action held within.
“I think a lot of Capcom fans out there want us to make a new IP. They want to see something new from us, not only the same series or franchises, as well. I think if they want to see something new and they’ve enjoyed our games in the past, then they’re going to want to play Dragon’s Dogma,” said Kobayashi. “Because Capcom’s known for its action games and is good at making action games, I think we can guarantee the quality of the action in this game. If you know us and you know we do good action, then we can guarantee there will be good action in this game, and hopefully that will be enough to make those people want to check it out and play Dragon’s Dogma.”
