Off the same concept of the first popular title Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Squareenix’s Fan service fest. This is a Direct Prequel. A mixture of uncanny JRPG characters, and interesting combat allowing Action, or on the fly RPG hits us again. with a few new additions, and ego clashes. You play the role of a set of new heroes for team Cosmos, going against the villain side of Chaos, or if you like the bad guys.  New characters to note are:  Kain ( Final Fantasy 4), Tifa (FF7), Vaan(FF12), and Lightning (FF13) among much more. Now alot of the classic characters you had in the first game make a return as well as add some plot to this titles storymode, which in a long story short “The divine conflict between harmony and discord rages on, the fate of the world its promised prize. fighting to secure it are brave souls summoned for that solitary purpose. These warriors, relying on what fragments of their shattered memories remain, fight to end the conflict – and for a chance to return home, to the worlds they each once knew.”

You are given three modes for gameplay content. Story mode, battle mode, and communications mode. Story mode, allows you to play through roles of both Chaos and Cosmos, mixing the game play up a tad with due to every characters combos and styles are different and compare to their own games style. A example is Lightning handles as if she is in final fantasy 13,the Paradigm ” Com”, “Rav”, and Medic are your 3 skill sets for her. Each giving her a way to add yourself with ranged attacks and or straight up close combat. Again every character offered something new like in the first dissidia so every bit of the story did not get stale. Every characters scenarios present more access to more stories and content.  Another introduction to the series is assist feature, which allows a member of the same side , to do a move to ether damage or help you in a small way. The Battle mode allows you to go in straight forwardly and play with a assortment of ether unlocked characters or off the cuff characters. A open world is present instead of always having that board game style pre combat phrase. Yes it is still present but a somewhat open world which looks fantastic and gives you plenty to explore. As the theme of Final Fantasy is present also is leveling. The higher you get, the more HP and stats your characters build. Along with some Accessories, that boost your skills and or stats. along completing the storymode unlocks more content the such as Arcade Mode, and Labyrinth. All were interesting modes, the Labyrinth being the most beneficial and fun to play around with.

And finally the Multi-player is well straight up test of might of sorts. You connect through PSN’s Ad-hoc, and connect and go against many players who want to spam many of their choice’d characters.  creating quests to share with other players is also apart of this experience. Setting the tone, difficulty and pace of each quest, you can share as many of the said quest as you like and see if others can stand toe to toe with your said quests. Group battles are pretty much straight forward, up to 16 players can spar and it leads to 1 on 1 battles, people may watch said matches and winner takes on next on the other side.

Closing Thoughts: The pace and style of this game struck all cords. The score of the mix of all the Final fantasy games, to the awesome intense battles drew me in for more and more so much so, I went and replayed the game again through its story mode. The story had some great depth of the conflict between both sides of the fence, from the soft and funny parts to the more serious and deep conversations, it was all told like SquareEnix knows how.  While still holding to its straight forward gameplay, the action did feel a tiny bit clunky, the RPG mode held out with more flavor then the action mode in this case. The assist mode though nice in thought was as helping as just going in alone but none the less adds a small kick for some game play add ons. What a rush! It is to be able to see some great mixture of characters I never thought of seeing going against one another. the style of game play is solid. While if you disliked the Dissidia, there is not any true improvements to report other then a few simple upgrade that yes give some more characteristics to the story mode. the multiplayer though might be unaddressable to some due to not having a ps3, or lacking the wireless access may find this mode useless unless a friend also owns a psp and near by.With many unlockable costumes, and having the power to play the original game once completing the game. Much Winning to be had. By a addicting nature, playing this game is advised.

Over all we give this game..

9.0
