College Bowl Showdown ESPN on Xbox Live

An update for the ESPN app on Xbox Live is being released today that will add some new functionality, with the most noteworthy news being that 32 college football bowl games will be watchable live, including all five BCS games (knowledge of how the BCS actually works not required).

Provided your service provider offers ESPN3 support, the app will allow you to watch a good deal of college football between now and January 10, the day of the BCS National Championship Game between Oregon and Auburn. The first of the 32 games kicks off this Saturday at 2PM EST between BYU and UTEP. The full schedule can be viewed here.

Beginning today, you’ll be able to take part in the College Bowl Showdown, which allows you to make picks for all of the games and compete against friends. Various prizes can be won by participants including a tour of ESPN’s headquarters and a trip to the ESPYs. You have to first register in order to take part by downloading a gamer picture — find the details about that on Xbox.com.
