If the PlayStation Network hasn’t been enough of a money drain on you so far, you’re in luck! Hudson announced this week that they’re bringing Elemental Monster: Online Card Game, a trading-card title that’s pretty well similar to Magic: The Gathering and its ilk, to the PlayStation 3.
Elemental Monster, which is played with six monster cards at a time, is already available for a variety of platforms in Japan, including the PSP, DS and iPhone. The PS3 version, however, will be a little different in terms of how you pay for it. Purchasing the game itself costs a mere 100 yen ($1.19), but that gives you only a few default cards to start out with. You’ll quickly want (or need) more, and virtual booster sets cost 500 yen (about $6) each.
As if that weren’t rough enough, you also have to buy “battle tickets” in order to compete against other people online, to the tune of 100 yen for four tickets. (It’s not that crazy, actually — Elemental Monster is just following the tactics of all the online trading-card games you see in Japanese arcades, except you don’t even get any physical cards out of it.)
