Close to three years after acquiring the rights to Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, Chair has opted to put its game based on the classic science fiction novel on hold (via Joystiq).

Chair’s game had been intended to be a downloadable title based around the Battle Room. In the book, the protagonist Ender demonstrates his genius for tactics by leading his troops in the Battle Room’s various simulations.

“We have and had an amazing design for the Ender’s Game game,” said Chair co-founder Donald Mustard. However, “one of [parent company] Epic’s primary objectives is to create original and unique franchises. I don’t know that Ender’s Game fits into that strategic objective anymore.”
