The Spike Video Game Awards have come once again, and this year’s show blurred the line even more between awards show, a showcase of trailers, and variety act. Neil Patrick Harris riffed at his singing and dancing persona, made a running gag of perverted video game titles, and showed off some “augmented reality” a few times for the viewers at home.
The show wasn’t without its share of news. Between awkward interviews with Maria Menounos and the dude-bro comedy stylings of Dane Cook, we got a look at SSX Deadly Descent, Elder Scrolls V, Mass Effect 3, Resistance 3, Prototype 2, Guillermo Del Toro’s project titled Insane, Forza Motorsport 4, and Uncharted 3.
Some trailers didn’t show off newsworthy bits, but were notable nonetheless. Portal 2, Thor, Mortal Kombat, Batman: Arkham City all got the trailer treatment.
