Tecmo Koei’s fantasy action RPG arriving Valentine’s week in the US on the PS3.
Last month, Japanese developer-publisher Tecmo Koei revealed that the first half of its in-progress fiscal year has been off to a slow start. For the six-month period ended September 30, the company saw sales fall 27.5 percent to ¥11.1 billion ($132 million), while operating losses reached ¥1.1 billion ($13.1 million). Tecmo Koei laid the blame of its sagging financials at the feet of two primary causes: development costs for future titles and a delay of the action role-playing game Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll.
One of those causes will soon see resolution, as the publisher announced today that Trinity will be available for the PlayStation 3 in North America on February 8. The game is in development at Omega Force, which is best known for helming the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors beat-’em-up franchises.
Trinity takes place in an original fantasy world called Vyashion, which is populated by humans, elves, and vampires. The game sees players assuming control of three characters–a warrior, a wizard, and an assassin–with the goal of restoring order to the land after it has become assailed by the treacherous King Balor.
Players will explore environments that range from bustling metropolises to dank dungeons as part of their adventure. The non-linear storyline also affords players a chance to engage battles in a way that combines the magical and physical prowess of the game’s three party members.
