Battlefield 1943 was not only one of the most popular downloadable titles of 2009, it also turned a very healthy profit for Electronic Arts (via Joystiq).

At UBS’s 39th Annual media and Communication Conference, EA revealed new cost and revenue numbers. CFO Eric Brown said that the games development costs were in the “single-digit millions,” but that it earned EA roughly $16 million.

When it was released in July of last year, it became the fastest ever downloadable title to one million units. But despite the healthy numbers, the promised PC version has yet to materialize.
