After a tumultous year that saw Marvelous Entertainment cease development of new IPs and institute a financial restructuring plan, Marvelous Entertainment is back in the black (via Siliconera).

The company’s sales are down 12.9 percent from last year, but Marvelous still managed to turn a profit of 130 million yen ($1.7 million) for the first half of fiscal 2010. That’s in comparison to a loss of 287 million ($3.21 million) last year.

The good news follows a 71 million yen quarterly profit for the period of April 1 to June 30. The rise in profits have been attributed to reduced advertising spending and overhead.
