Mass Effect 2

Over the weekend, rumors broke out on what we’d see included in the PlayStation 3 port of Mass Effect 2. While some of the rumors are being called a “translation error,” BioWare’s Jesse Houston has stepped forward in the company’s forums to clear up some of the misunderstandings and outline what will be included on the PS3 disc.

We knew the disc would include some of the downloadable content, but now we know which ones. Kasumi’s Stolen Memory, Project Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and the Blood Dragon Armor, will all be available straight from the disc. The rumors touted a “6 hour exclusive mission,” which was apparently a translation flub referring to the estimated 6 hours it would take to complete the included DLC. Like the 360 and PC versions, new copies will include access to the Cerberus Network for content like Zaeed and the Firewalker pack.

The rumors also included word of an interactive comic to introduce the story, which is now confirmed. Houston says that they teamed up with Dark Horse Comics for the feature, and its interactivity will let players make some of the major choices from the first game that carry into the second. This will be included as a Cerberus Network download, so those who don’t buy the game new will be out of luck and have to make do with the default game choices.
