On October 26, 2000 — exactly ten years ago today — Sony Computer Entertainment launched its PlayStation 2 console to a hungry North American audience.

The PlayStation 2 would go on to be the highest-selling videogame console of all time, selling over 145 million units to date. Over ten years later, the system can still be purchased at retail, and software support, while dwindling, still exists. In fact, two new games are available for the system today: Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011.
