It is a good time to be a gamer in the most part. Not only do we have a huge library of games form now ’til then to fall back on for entertainment. One game invents the wheel like let’s say Rogue, and now we have many games take that wheel then produce a fine inspired game. Lost Sea is one of those simple to understand and play games, that offer a ton of charm and are not to complicated to simply enjoy. The plot of the game, is your stranded on a random deserted island within the Bermuda Triangle, you then discover you must go across several islands to escape through a mysterious portal. The game has a lot to it’s simple structure,  so let’s begin with its gameplay.

I have mentioned Rogue-like above for good reason. All of the landscapes you explore are mostly randomized with random enemies to suit each themed set of islands. There are a total of four locations or themed set of islands to go through. This is mostly a thing to spice things up and it boosts up the challenge. The game itself effectively applies each new flavor of level well. Over time, the game dragged a tiny bit in terms of playing through. I am not largely fussed about this, but others will perhaps get annoyed by this factor. I am accustomed to games like Binding of Issac that have repetitive levels to it. Sure it might be randomized, but more of the same thing. It was pretty darn fun, much like this game.

I liked the skins you could choose from. I usually went with the hobo looking guy or the shipwrecked looking guy,  I called “Wilson!” Most of the characters at least with my own end did not have a personal identification. Mostly just being cosmetic. It felt like going on a date with a person wearing a full green skin suit and not talk once to you, you just filled in the blank. You can get up to four other followers who do up to three plus effects like open chests, build bridges, and buff your attack rating. This works more or less like passives. You can command them to open locks or carry map keys, which grant you passage to other spots on the chapters islands.

From all that I found of those,  you can do up to three to skip towards the boss for the zone. Bosses specifically for the genre are cleverly thought out, with your common patterns and hazard marking on the ground to get out of the way. Your followers do not follow you in and you are left alone to dodge and attack. Attacking handles much like the Legend of Zelda. There is not too much in terms of depth behind the attacking, other then a charge up attack and swinging your sword. You get no fancy looking power ups and only usage items like pistols or whatever else to take out aggressive enemies.

Leaving a good vibe in my mind afterwards. I can not think of anything else to really say about these, as they are passable in that regard. So in closing..

In Closing:

Lost Sea is a charming and simple to pick up and play game,  with plenty of family approved bits to it a little bit like Binding of Issac, but without all of the crazy power ups.  I personally can not say enough of how enjoyable the game was aside from some of its odd set backs. Overall..
