In the apparent never-ending quest to “catch ’em all,” some Pokemon are harder to find than others. It’s been ten years since Pokemon Gold/Silver debuted, and to mark the occasion Nintendo is releasing a rare Pokemon into the recent remakes, Heart Gold/Soul Silver. The adorable psychic cat Mew will be available from October 15 through October 30. Players will be able to connect to the Nintendo WiFi and choose “Mystery Gift” to snag the rare pokemon.
This version of Mew will come inside a Cherish Ball and wear a Premier Ribbon to indicate its origins, and it will start at level five with only a few basic attacks. Mew was a secret in the original Pokemon Blue/Red and has been pretty rare ever since. Old-timers might still have him in their Red or Blue game saves, but until Nintendo provides a simpler way to transfer from the originals, your best (and easiest) bet is probably just to grab him for free through this promotion.
