I played this prior, but due to some hiccup with submission forms I will cover it again. Leaving a short element of my opinion. Gloomywood tackles one of the most difficult subjects in 2Dark: child abduction and murder.
However, it falls short of expectations, in part because the tone is never quite right.
Partly due to the fact that it isn’t the game you were expecting.

At the start, we meet the main character, Mr Smith, who is on vacation with his wife and two children.
They’re camping in the woods, and Mrs Smith sends the kids off to gather firewood so Mr Smith can set up his tent in peace. As it turns out, this was a grave error. Screams can be heard in the forest, and Mr Smith (seriously, I’m sick of writing that unimaginative name) discovers his wife’s decapitated corpse in the darkness of the woods, and is forced to watch his children being driven away in the back of a van. After being forced to leave his job as a detective after assaulting suspected child abusers, our protagonist has become obsessed with finding any of these disgusting monsters in the city of Gloomywood.

2Dark is a good concept, with a unique blend of horror, thriller, and stealth action genres all bundled into one.
It would be a lot easier to forget its odd inventory and design faults if the tale ever managed to deliver on that opening cinematic, but it never does.
It tries to emulate a noir aesthetic by requiring you to smoke a cigarette in order to save (doing so too often would kill you, which is an odd feature), but it falls short by a significant margin.
